That day was different than most that week. Everyone stopped asking and stopped staring.
Pretending everything was going to be alright , deep down everything isn't. No one is there to listen.
Sadness engulfs my insides turning them into a blackened abyss. No one knows of the constant battle raging on day after day inside my mind.
To get through a day is always the same, repeating the same words. "I'm fine, I'm fine."
For every "sorry", it feels resolute and stable as if there is no hope. Its fake and not sincere.
That day was different than most instead of people asking. It's a hug, he can tell from the building of tears thats all i need. Not a question or answer just a hug.
From the look in his green eyes that he knows of the battle raging. I wrap my shaking hands around his neck and he pulls me close not letting go.
The teardrops the fall down like rain, but he doesn't mind, he knows that this will make things better.
Him just being there makes the pain ease away a little to help me breathe just a bit better. It will take time for the battle to finally end for the end of the passing of a loved one. But now it's one step closer to ending, its healing.
Finally.

Night Awaiting
The night is solid, quiet, and undisturbed. A blanket of darkness surrounds the meadow.
Stars twinkle and sparkle always competing to be a child's wishing star, for the town is just over the hill.
Every night is always a starry one, but also a lonely one. She awaits in the long grass, illuminated by a sliver of palest moonbeam. She shares her loneliness with the night around her.
The soft breeze blows strands of chocolate brown hair into the air. Still she waits hoping for a bit of company, though it's nice to be alone with your thoughts every once in awhile.
On the outside edge, trees shelter in the heat, trying to escape into the raising cold. A lone wolf howls with sadness at the moon.
From the shadows yellow eyes out-crop to watch in wonder at the girl in the grass. For still she sits in the meadow up against a leaning willow unafraid. The wet dew has soaked through the knees of her jeans, and the bitter cold sends goosebumps up her arms.
Still her eyes never waver those last few seconds from the hill where the small town is waiting. No one comes again that night. This time tears begin to pour coursing down her cheeks and falling to the ground. Her head has fallen, tucked deep to her chest.
He wasn't going to come. Deep down she already knew he had accepted the choice. She had prayed long and hard that the love would survive. Now only heartache takes affect. She is finally left alone in the tall grass in the meadow.
This time she feels alone.Night remains her only company it watches in silence, comforting her in the best way it knows how.
