The Tease

The icy crystals hover above the freezing ground.
No footprints plaster the untouched snow, that has
silently fallen the evening before.
Drippy ice daggers dangle from the naked branches
of the emaciated trees.
The wind is wild today though it swirls no skipping leaves through the
air.
Today wind is lonely, the dancing flakes are not company.
It is an evil trick of sister cold to tease brother wind who
shrieks in sorrow. These cold embers remain silent as stone,
as they lay to rest, with their snide smiles of gloating.
Brother wind lets his voice cry....no....howl in sorrow
at the thought of no playmate
this winter.
